Event description
A year ago, OffEnergo launched a certification program for businesses. The company’s website states: "If you care about the environment and follow the principles of sustainable production, this program is for you. Your organization will receive a special badge confirming that your products are safe and eco-friendly. You will also get an award made from recycled materials.
Over the year, many companies in State F have received this certification. But is it trustworthy? It seems not.
It’s been revealed that a well-known cosmetic company, which uses phthalates and parabens, has also been certified under the program. Journalists have uncovered a class-action lawsuit filed against the company: 50 consumers claimed that they had been misled about the ingredients in its products and sought compensation for emotional distress and health problems caused by the use of the cosmetics. That’s not to mention that the company clearly doesn’t use renewable energy.
State F’s consumer protection agency and environmental service are yet to inspect the legitimacy of the certification procedure. Meanwhile, the program has been suspended pending further investigation.
